Goose Gullet Bush Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) - We were gifted a bag of these heirloom seeds from Peter Floris of Paradise, NS. Peter’s wife, an avid heirloom seed collector for many years, had saved and collected these seeds. The bean has a rich history here in Nova Scotia dating back to the French Acadian settlers of the 1700’s. As the story goes, Acadian farmers fleeing expulsion in 1755 had shot and harvested a Canada Goose only to discover speckled pale red and white beans inside the gooses gullet. The seeds were saved and sown the next spring and for generations to come. Pods are green with notable light purple streaking. Can be grown as both a snap and dry bean. A trouble free, low maintenance rare heirloom bean known for its high productivity.
