Guryn Black Beauty Eggplant (Solanum melongena) - Dark purple-black skinned large fruits with oblong shape forming early on rigid plant stalks. We have continued to grow this family heirloom since my grandmother Katie Guryn first harvested them over 80 years ago, using old wooden apple crates to grow them in. This heirloom is a heavy producer with 8-10 fruits per plant and benefits from early summer heat. We use small greenhouse tunnels to help the process, however, Black Beauty eggplant seeds will be productive in most gardens without the additional help.

Growing Information:Â Start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Sow 1/4 inch deep and keep soil warm. Transplant into 1 inch cells or 2 inch pots at 1-2 leaf stage. Staking tomatoes (indeterminate) should be transplanted into 3-4 inch pots. Harden off plants for 4-5 days after risk of frost has passed, then transport outdoors.
