Henkle Purple (Purple Russian) Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) In 1980, Irma Henkel of Ukraine donated these tomato seeds to her relative, Frederick Ineman of Ohio, who eventually gifted them to the Seed Savers Exchange in the late 90’s. The plum shaped fruit are about 2-3 inches long and mature to a very dark purple colour. A blemish free heirloom with multiple uses from fresh slicing to canning. A sweet tasting, juicy delight. Extremely productive producer on indeterminate vines of regular leaf foliage. (68-70 days from transplant)
