Golden Bartonia or Lindley's Blazing Star (Mentzelia lindleyi) - An annual species native to western regions of North America and often referred to as 'Evening Star' or 'Lindley’s Blazing Star', this star-shaped flower has a bright yellow sheen and highly noticeable gold stamens in its center. Plants reach 20-30 inches and prefer drier, well-drained soils. The blooming period tends to be highest in the early morning and again in the late afternoon to early evening. Will produce up to 40 flowers per plant in ideal conditions. Fragrant flowers are roughly 3-3.5 inches across with five petals and highly sought after by honey bees!

Growing Information: Start indoors 10-12 weeks before last spring frost. Surface sow and lightly cover. Add humidity dome and remove after germination. Keep at 15-20°C. If no germination occurs after 20 days, refrigerate for 10-14 days. Can also be directly sown outdoors in winter or late fall.
