Long Purple Fingerling Eggplant (Solanum melongena) - A classic Italian heirloom producing 8+ slender, miniature long purple eggplants per plant. The young fruits have firm, bitter-free white flesh and a sweet, delicate flavour. Larger overripe fruits can be discarded or saved for seed. Thrives even in cooler climates, maturing in under 65 days in most regions of Canada. Here in Nova Scotia (Zone 5b), we typically harvest at 62ā65 days. Very easy to grow and a highly prolific producer, perfect for small gardens or containers.

Planting Instructions: Start seeds indoors 6ā8 weeks before the last frost. Sow 1/4 inch deep in consistently warm soil (22ā28°C) and provide bright light to prevent leggy growth. Transplant seedlings into 1-inch cells or 2-inch pots at the 1ā2 true leaf stage. Harden off for 4ā5 days after the risk of frost has passed. Transplant outdoors once both day and night temperatures are consistently above 10°C. Space plants 18ā24 inches apart in full sun with rich, well-drained soil for optimal production.
