Parris Island Cos Lettuce (Lactuca sativa) This heirloom romaine lettuce takes its name from Parris Island, South Carolina. This variety, originating from 1952, produces tall thick green leaves that taper down into a white heart. Bountiful and lush, Parris Island can grow up to 30cm (12”) tall as is known to be resistant to Lettuce Mosaic Virus (LMV) and Tipburn (browning of the edges of the leaves). This is a great strong lettuce to grow in any home garden, raised planter, or field, and will be savoured in any of your favourite leafy green recipes.
