Prairie Coneflower (Ratibida columnifera) A native flower to the central prairies of North America, also known as Thimble Flower or the Mexican Hat Plant since it resembles a small sombrero worn during Mexican fiestas. An upright, clump forming perennial that produces 2 inch yellow flowers with brown-black centers. Blooms from early July to September and can tolerate a wide variety of soil types providing full sunlight is available throughout the day. A great xeriscape plant for a water conserving garden. Butterflies will visit the flowers and birds will harvest the seeds in the fall if you don’t save them! Can be mass planted in establishing a wildflower meadow.
