Prince Albert Pea (Pisum sativum) - A historic English heirloom pea dating back to before 1842, Prince Albert was once among the most popular garden peas grown in North America. This early-maturing shelling pea produces vigorous, tall vines with delicate white flowers followed by small, green pods filled with round peas. Known for its reliable early harvest and traditional garden pea flavour, it is best enjoyed fresh from the garden or shelled for soups, stews and freezing. Growing approximately 120–180 cm (4–6 feet) tall, the vines benefit from sturdy support. A wonderful piece of vegetable gardening history and a rewarding choice for the home garden.
