Queensland Blue Squash (Cucurbita maxima) A popular Australian heirloom variety introduced to North America in the mid 1930’s. Well noted for its sweet orange flesh and ribbed blue-grey skin, resembling a vintage French styled beret. This is an excellent storage squash, keeping well into the late winter months. Most often prepared as a roasting squash which retains its rich flavour. Long productive vines produce many finished fruit around 100-110 days.

Planting Instructions: Seed indoors 1/2 inch deep. Line out transplants after risk of frost has passed, spacing 5-6 seed apart. Direct seed in raised hills sowing 5-6 seeds 1/2 inch deep. Soil temperature should be at least 21 degrees Celsius. Space mounds 5-6 feet apart, thinning to 3 plants per mound.
