Rainbow Loveliness (Dianthus barbatus) - This stunning heirloom species was introduced in the mid 1920s. A lovely highly fragrant dianthus with deeply fringed, spider-like petals of pastel pink, rose, white, and lavender. Rainbow Loveliness is a soft perennial in some regions (zones 6-10) but can be considered as an annual since it often will bloom the first year from seed. Prefers full sun, but will tolerate 2-3 hours of partial shade/day. Plants reach 12-16” in height. Blooms begin in late spring lasting throughout summer months.
