Common Sage (Salvia officinalis) - Sage is a beloved perennial herb, prized for adding depth and complexity to sauces, meats, eggs, and a variety of savoury dishes. A classic ingredient in many holiday recipes, it is also an attractive addition to the garden. Sage flowers are purple-lavender and highly appealing to pollinators, including hummingbirds, which are drawn to the blooms. This easy to grow herb regrows fresh leaves after cutting, ensuring a plentiful supply for your spice jars.

Planting Instruction: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost or direct sow outdoors in late fall for natural spring germination. Sow seeds 0.5 cm deep in well-drained soil and keep lightly moist until germination. Seeds typically germinate in 14–21 days.

Thin or transplant seedlings to 40–45 cm apart in full sun with well-drained soil. Established plants benefit from light pruning in spring and after flowering to encourage fresh growth.
