Silver Dollar/Annual Honesty Plant (Lunaria annua) Also known as Moonwort, this old heirloom was introduced to North America in the 16th century by English protestants. Lunaria thrive in both sun or partial shade, producing clusters of mauve cross-shaped flowers in its second year, followed by uniquely circular papery seed pods which resemble silver coins making them popular in dried displays. Lunaria grows to about 90cm (35") tall and self-seeds itself. It can be started early enough indoors where it can be coerced into behaving as an annual, flowering in the first year.

Silver Dollar - Seeds can be directly sown at any time from spring to fall but are easiest to plant in the spring. Sprinkle them where you’d like them to grow and cover with a light coating of soil and water well. They prefer a sunny location, but will grow well in semi-shade.
