Speckled Amish Lettuce - Winkler strain (Lactuca sativa) An old Amish heirloom dating back to the mid 1700's, this is a very unique Butterhead - Bibb type with maroon speckled pigmentation over a light green leaf network. Our seed source comes from the Dyck family near Winkler MB. We first trialed this beauty on clay soils where it performed exceedingly well. We have noted a wide range of colour and speckling pattern dependent on soil type and texture. Makes a 'speck'- tacular addition to any salad!
