Stanley’s Morning Sun Marigold (Tagetes patula) - It would only be fitting that my grandfather Stanley (Baba’s husband) should have a flower attached to his legacy as a cheerful, banjo playing farmer of the Interlake region of Manitoba, that he was. I remember my Grandfather (Gedo) best, sitting on a press back chair by the summer kitchen with two cats on his shoulder, laughing and fooling with his grandchildren, surrounded by a small forest of my Baba’s French Marigolds. Those marigold flowers were as gold as his smile and the morning sun that lit up the farmyard. We have planted these orange-golden coloured Marigolds relentlessly amongst our tomato plants at a 2:1 ratio. A great companion plant with nematode repelling properties. A gorgeous aromatic French marigold that will light up your smile on your morning walk through the garden. Another amazing family heirloom flower from the ‘Baba’ collection.
