Uncle Alec's Black Knight Sweet Pea
Uncle Alec’s Black Knight Sweet Pea. This unique selection of sweet pea was found in a cream can in the root cellar after my great Uncle Alec, who past away in the late 1970’s. My father thought it would be worthy of giving the peas a try that spring. As the story goes, approximately 100 peas were lined out and only 18 grew, but they were incredibly aromatic, maroon coloured blooms that lasted most of the summer. We have been growing these for years now and have never been disappointed. This heirloom has dark burgundy-black flowers with a hint of ruby red variation.
