Uncle Don's Big Aussie Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) - Our seed source was generously gifted from Andrew Taylor of Mississauga, Ontario. He obtained the seeds from a lady in Port Credit who brought them back after a family visit to Australia several years ago. They do resemble the Northern Italian Abruzzese Pear in some ways but tend to be much more prolific and hardier in the Atlantic Maritime climate. They were one of the few tomatoes that looked unscathed after Hurricane Lee whipped through our farm in September of 2023. Uncle Don's Big Aussie are a heavy producer of large pear shape, pleated fruits born on indeterminate vines. Many qualities of paste tomatoes with thick walled structure and few seeds. Also great as a beefsteak slicer. Very versatile and definitely worth a try in your garden oasis.
