Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) - Wormwood, also known as Absinthe, is a striking, semi-woody perennial herb with silvery-grey, aromatic foliage. Its unique, bitter flavour has made it a prized ingredient in traditional bitters, herbal tonics, and absinthe spirits. Historically, Wormwood has been used medicinally as a digestive aid, to expel intestinal worms, support liver health, and even help with mild depressive symptoms. While cattle generally avoid it due to its bitterness, this hardy herb will naturalize readily and can thrive in pastures, abandoned areas, and garden beds with proper containment. It is also valued as an ornamental plant for its distinctive foliage and architectural form.

Planting Instructions: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost or direct sow outdoors after frost. Sow seeds on the soil surface and press lightly, do not cover, as light aids germination. Keep soil lightly moist until germination, which typically occurs in 10–21 days.

Harden off seedlings before transplanting outdoors. Space plants 45–60 cm apart in full sun with well-drained soil. Wormwood thrives in dry, low-fertility conditions and is well suited to rock gardens or borders.

Prune regularly to maintain shape and encourage bushy growth.
