Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) - Wormwood, also known as Absinthe, is a striking, semi-woody perennial herb with silvery-grey, aromatic foliage. Its unique, bitter flavour has made it a prized ingredient in traditional bitters, herbal tonics, and absinthe spirits. Historically, Wormwood has been used medicinally as a digestive aid, to expel intestinal worms, support liver health, and even help with mild depressive symptoms. While cattle generally avoid it due to its bitterness, this hardy herb will naturalize readily and can thrive in pastures, abandoned areas, and garden beds with proper containment. It is also valued as an ornamental plant for its distinctive foliage and architectural form.

Planting Instructions: Start seeds indoors 6–8 weeks before the last frost, sowing 1/4 inch deep in well-draining soil. Keep lightly moist until germination, which occurs in 10–21 days. Transplant seedlings into full sun once frost danger has passed, spacing 18–24 inches apart. Wormwood tolerates dry soils, poor fertility, and full sun, making it ideal for rock gardens, borders, or contained beds to prevent unwanted spreading. Regular pruning encourages bushier growth and maintains shape.
