Fall Sowing Varieties
Flowers & Herbs to Sow this Fall for a Beautiful Spring Garden!
There are many perennial and biennial seeds that can be sown in the fall as opposed to manually cold-stratifying them in your refrigerator. Also, many annual varieties can be sown in late fall giving them an early spring start.
Over the winter months, seeds undergo a natural cold period, exposing them to cool-moist conditions. The thawing and freezing cycles during winter and early spring cause the seed coats to break down, allowing germination to begin as soon as conditions are suitable!
